PrefsLock is a simple utility that requires the Palm device user to enter the correct PIN before being able to access Preferences. If the correct PIN is not entered, the user cannot enter Preferences by tapping on the Prefs icon or by resetting the device. The user can enter the PIN by tapping on the onscreen digits, or by entering the PIN via Graffiti, then tapping on the OK button. If the PIN is correct, the Preferences app is displayed, otherwise the Palm is returned to the App Launcher (Home) screen.

It is designed for use in a corporate environment where users are not allowed to change device preferences as a policy. Firms that rely on accurate dates and times (for example on time/date stamped barcode data) often want to ensure that users do not change the device date/time as a means of altering recorded data. PrefsLock is designed specifically for this situation.
